Joosa Riekkinen (a.k.a. Cyclometh, Lossi, Lozzi) is the original programmer of Liero (1997-1999). Joosa discovered an interest for computers at the age of 10, enjoying various racing games, an interest he still pursues.
In 1997 work began on the game which initially was ment to be a top view war game, but ultimately ended up as the popular 2D deathmatch game known as Liero. Every new release of the game was uploaded to the Mikrobitti magazine website, which Joosa was clearly familiar with. It was many times named the game of the day, game of the week and such awards, appearing almost constantly on the CD enclosed with the printed magazine, which came with small games and demos for the readers.
In 1999 development of Liero stopped permanently at version 1.33. Joosa was growing weary of the game and the development and its popularity made his mail inbox fill up beyond control and it was impossible to reply to all mails regarding the game.
The time that followed was marked by a desperate search of Joosa who was now unreachable, and started gaining a mystification about his persona. What he did during this time is quite unknown, but school was a factor. He is also known to have painted a wall in his home town. (Yellow)
In 2003 Joosa suddenly returned to the community under the alias Cyclometh. He was familiar with the Quakenet network for IRC, and simply joined the #liero channel and explained that he was in fact the real Joosa. As most things fit, no reasons for doubt were present, and Joosas presence has been quite constant since then. Joosa however refuses to continue development on Liero and considers it to be no more than a bad memory. How bad this memory really is is disputed.
In 2005, Gliptic and Wei-Zhi-Hui visited Joosa in Finland in a l33tm33t. Using Joosas brand new wide-screen laptop, Liero and Gusanos was played. However, the original Liero did not work very well, so by force of necessity, Liero ProMode was played instead (without sounds). In 2007 Joosa visited Wei-Zhi-Hui in Oslo for a couple of days. No Liero was played, but quite a lot of OpenTTD and Wii.
